The "domestic altercation where shots were fired" happened in Lenwood Park, Southampton Township, Shippensburg, around 7:25 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, Trooper Megan Frazer detailed in the release.

PSP Chambersburg Troopers formed a perimeter around the home but they failed to make contact with the people inside, so the Pennsylvania State Police Special Emergency Response Team (SERT) was called to the scene.

When SERT stormed the home, they found a 67-year-old woman and 60-year-old man dead from gunshot wounds, Frazer explained.

The pair's cause and manner of death are pending the results of an autopsy.

Their deaths are being investigated as a “homicide- and suicide-related event,” as stated in the release.
